Data protection policy
Last updated: May 25, 2018
By this charter (hereinafter “the Charter”), CIE EUROPE SAS (hereinafter “the Company”) defines and informs its customers and users of the e-commerce site www.compactorstore.com (hereinafter “the Site”) of how the Company uses and protects the personal information it collects from them.
The Charter may be modified or updated at any time by the Company, particularly to comply with any legislative, regulatory, jurisprudential, or technological developments. The date of the update will be indicated at the top of the new Charter. These modifications are binding on the user, who should therefore regularly consult the Charter and the Cookie Policy to be aware of any changes.
1. Who is responsible for processing your personal data?
The data controller is CIE EUROPE SAS, with a capital of €500,000, registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register under number 326 534 955, having its registered office at 66 Avenue des Champs Elysées, 75008 Paris.
The email address to which we can also receive your correspondence related to the protection of your personal data is: serviceclients@compactorstore.com .
2. Why do we collect your data?
Your personal data is necessary for us, and is therefore collected, for the following purposes:
Managing your orders
The information and data concerning you are necessary for the management of your order and our business relationship. They are mandatory in order to provide you with the service you request: ordering, payment, delivery, handling disputes or product warranties, and contacting you if necessary.
Payment for your orders
Secure payment allows for fast order processing while ensuring your security. At checkout, you are automatically redirected to our banking partner's server. The transaction is processed securely, guaranteeing the confidentiality of the information you provide. The TLS encryption protocol ensures that your bank details (credit card number, expiry date, and security code), encrypted on your own computer, are never transmitted over the network or even within the company. This is why you will be asked to provide these details again for each new transaction.
Our banking partner has the right, without our being able to intervene, to refuse any payment.
Sending newsletters and conducting sales prospecting electronically
When creating your account, you can subscribe to the newsletter and thus choose to be informed regularly of special offers, private sales, and new collections available on the Site. For this purpose, we need you, as the email address holder, to confirm your consent to receive the newsletter. You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the link provided for this purpose at the bottom of each newsletter. Notwithstanding the above, and in accordance with Article L 34-5 of the French Postal and Electronic Communications Code, we may send you marketing communications electronically, even if you have not given your prior consent, provided that you are already a CIE EUROPE SAS customer, that you did not object to receiving marketing communications when creating your account, and that the communications concern products or services similar to those we have already provided to you. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link provided in each email.
Email alerts
If you make purchases on CIE EUROPE SAS, add items to your shopping cart on the website, save products to your "WishList," or recommend products to friends, you will receive alerts and product suggestions by email. You will receive these emails even if you are not subscribed to our newsletter. This allows us to send you personalized information about products in our range that may be of interest to you based on your recent purchases or expressed interest in certain products. If you no longer wish to receive product suggestions or any advertising messages in general, you can opt out at any time. A simple text notification (by email or post) sent to the contact details provided in paragraph 1 of this Privacy Policy is sufficient. You will also find an unsubscribe link in every email.
Your comments, opinions and questions about the products
This service allows our registered customers to leave a review on the Site for a purchased product or to ask a question about a product offered on the Site and share their experience. Published reviews and questions are publicly accessible and available on the Site at any time. By using these features, the customer authorizes the Company to publish and share their review or question about the product on the Site. The review must not be defamatory, abusive, unlawful, vulgar, slanderous towards third parties, whether individuals or legal entities, racist, inciting discrimination, damaging to the honor/reputation of others, violent, or pornographic, and more generally, not compliant with applicable law. The Company reserves the right to remove any review that does not comply with the provisions mentioned above.
Your shares on social networks and links to third-party sites
The Site may contain links to various websites and social media platforms hosted on third-party servers by individuals or organizations over which we have no control (examples illustrating the Company's policy: Facebook, Pinterest, etc.). Therefore, the Company cannot be held liable in any way for how your data is stored or used on these third-party servers. We advise you to review the privacy policy of each third-party website you access through the Site to understand how your data will be used.
3. What data do we collect and when do we collect it?
We collect data from every user of the site, whether a simple visitor or a logged-in customer with an account, while browsing, consulting or ordering on our site.
We collect data directly, when:
- you create a customer account
- You subscribe to our newsletters or to the alerts offered on the Site
- you place an order
- You add products to your shopping cart, with a view to a future purchase.
- You write a comment, a review, a question on the Site
- you contact our “customer service”
- you are browsing the Site
- when you create a “WishList” and add products to it
- you fill out a form
- You click on a button that displays a link to a social network (Facebook, Pinterest, etc.).
You can visit the Site without providing any personal information. However, you will not be able to benefit from most of the services provided by the Site.
To place an order, creating a customer account is mandatory. You must provide the following information to create your account: gender, last name, first name, email address, password, date of birth, and consent to the data protection policy. You must then provide your billing and shipping addresses. To process your order, we need your correct name, address, and payment information. We need your email address and phone number to confirm receipt and shipment of your order, and more generally to communicate with you. Furthermore, we use your email address for identification (as your login ID) when you access your customer account.
Like most other online retailers, we also collect your data indirectly and automatically, through “cookies”.
Through this means, we collect and process in particular your IP address, your connection and browsing data, preferences and interests, confirmations of receipt and reading of emails, information on your connection terminal (computer, tablet, phone) and on your Internet connection (example: type and version of your browser, operating system), the date and time, the products you have viewed or searched for.
Other data may also be collected by our subcontractors; this includes updated information from our carriers and other third parties on deliveries and addresses that we use to update our databases, optimize the execution of your future orders and to communicate more easily.
4. How long do we keep them?
The Company retains your data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in Article 2 and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. This retention period varies depending on the data in question, as the nature and purpose of the data collection may affect its duration. Similarly, certain legal obligations impose specific retention periods.
When you subscribe to the newsletter, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe.
Regarding your user account, your billing data, and all documents related to an order, are kept for a period of ten (10) years from the end of the fiscal year in which you placed your order.
We retain the rest of your data for a period of five (5) years from the end of our relationship. This period begins from either your last order, your last login to your customer account, your last call to customer service, the sending of an email to customer service, a click on a hyperlink in an email sent by CIE EUROPE SAS, the addition of products to your cart without completing the purchase, or finally, a positive response to an email asking if you wish to continue receiving marketing communications after the expiry of the five (5) year period.
When you request it, your Site user account will be deactivated, and all personal data allowing us to identify you will be anonymized; consequently, we will no longer be able to identify or contact you, permanently and irreversibly. Only billing data will remain accessible for a period of ten (10) years.
Beyond the retention periods mentioned above, your data will be anonymized and kept for purely statistical purposes.
5. Who are the recipients of your data and how is it protected?
The Company does not sell the personal data of users of the Site and its services.
Only the Company receives your personal information. This information, whether in individual or aggregated form, is never transmitted to a third party, with the exception of police authorities in the context of legal requests concerning the fight against fraud and subcontractors used by the Company for the proper execution of services rendered.
The Company notably uses subcontractors for the following services:
- secure payment on the website
- the delivery of your orders
- data storage and the Site
- carrying out maintenance and technical development operations on the Site

- the personalization of our marketing and advertising campaigns
- collecting customer reviews
All subcontractors, service providers or other third parties mentioned above are bound by contractual obligations to respect the confidentiality and protection of data and to process it only for the purposes for which the Company transmits it to them.
Your data is stored on secure servers protected by firewalls and antivirus software. We have implemented technical and organizational measures designed to guarantee the security and confidentiality of your data against accidental loss and against unauthorized access, use, modification, and disclosure. However, given the inherent nature of the internet, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information exchanged over this network.
We strive to protect your data, but we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted to the Site. You agree that you transmit your data at your own risk. We cannot be held liable for any failure to comply with the privacy settings or security measures in place on the Site.
As such, you agree that the security of your information is also your responsibility. For example, you are responsible for keeping your user account password secret. Do not disclose it to any third party under any circumstances. Similarly, be careful when disclosing information in the public sections of the site, as this information can be viewed by any user of the Site.
6. Transfer of data outside the EU
You are hereby informed that data concerning you may be transferred by the Company, for the purposes defined in these terms and conditions, to companies located in countries outside the European Union that do not offer an adequate level of protection for personal data.
